I had never really heard of the Sunshine Awards until the absolutely lovely @RainyBlog nominated me (thanks, it really means a lot!), but after doing a bit of research and looking at other nominees blogs, I realised that my blog is actually bloody helping people and that is all I ever wanted. It’s the reason I write.
So the Sunshine awards are basically to spread positivity between blogs, and twitter to try and find people who spread that positivity and get them a bit of recognition. I’m really really proud to be a part of it and to borrow a tiny little bit of Charlotte’s post (sorry and thanks again), these are the rules.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and share a link back to their blog
- Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated who
- Nominate 11 more bloggers, asking them 11 new questions written by you
so without further ado, please see my answers and find out a little bit more about me! I’m really looking forward to seeing the responses to my questions which will be at the end.
- If you could eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh wow, this is really tough for me as I love food! I think it would have to be my all time favourite food of fresh pasta, tomato and mascarpone sauce (fresh, shop bought) and garlic bread. I eat it constantly if my partner is away and it’s so bloody quick and easy.
- When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
The honest answer is a little pink fairy. Other than that, it was a teacher. Or a librarian. It got harder to decide as I got older. I want to write, work in a museum, be a forensic scientist and a librarian (I just liked the old fashioned stamp). I’m none of those things (well maybe a writer) but I’m only 30!
- What is your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?
Depends, if we have our son (and haven’t managed to palm him off for the weekend on an unsuspecting family member; thanks Nanna) then we spend time watching TV, snuggled on the couch or playing with the toys I’ve been trying to throw out for months. If it’s just us two, then we will just chill out, eat all the food and watch Netflix. We very rarely have lazy days anymore, I would get bored I think!
- Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall?
Winter, weirdly to everyone who knows me! I love wrapping up in big jumpers, scarves and coats. Going for walks in the park all wrapped up and getting home and warming up with a hot drink! I love the TV shows on around winter and it means I get more cuddles with the 2 year old. It also means I don’t have to shave my legs as much! Running in winter is much easier too for me.
- Favorite book, movie, or TV show?
Ooh can I do all 3? Favourite book: Slightly odd and a bit out there but the sequel to Gone with the Wind – called Scarlett. It wasn’t written by Margaret Mitchell but from what I can remember it’s very close to her writing style. It’s written by Alexandra Ripley. It’s a book that although not exactly popular, stuck with me throughout my teens and early 20’s. I still quite random lines and wonder why no-one knows what I’m talking about!
Favourite Movie: I don’t think I actually have a favourite movie. I have movies for each part of my life which are too many to go into. My fave Disney film is the Little Mermaid (no idea why as I cannot swim and I HATE the water) so we’ll go with that
Favourite TV Show: Criminal Minds seeing as how my son’s middle name is taken from one of the characters. I’ve not found a show that I will take as much interest in. I love it.
- What is an interesting fact about you that most people don’t know about?
ermmm ooh tough as I am rubbish at keeping things to myself so most people know way too much! Most people on the blog-sphere won’t know that I’m divorced. I got married at 23, and divorced at 25.
I have severe anxiety at times, I try not to let it show but I’m extremely insecure and hate it in social situations when I think people are talking about me and something I’ve done. Which is probably why although I act very confident, I only have a few close friends.
- How many cities/places have you lived in your life?
I’ve always lived in the North West of England. I’ve lived in Bury, Leigh, Macclesfield, Stockport and now Rochdale.
- If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, who’s would they be? Why?
What a fab question! I think it would have to be a teacher or nurse. I’d love to be able to do what they do but I’d be petrified! If I could understand what they have to go through in an average day, I’m sure I’d be more understanding of delays/silly things at school and problems we have with the civil service.
Oh and Elizabeth I, just to see what she actually got up to with Robert Dudley
- What does success mean to you?
Being happy. I don’t need a big house, fancy car, massively well-paid job (although it would help with the bills) but as long as I have my little boy and my partner, our families/friends and a roof over our head, I’m happy and that to me means I’ve succeeded in my life.
- What is one thing love most about yourself?
My strength. Not physically as I have none of that but I have been through some hard times (haven’t we all) and come out the other side a completely different person. There was a time in my life where I thought I’d never get my life on track and never happy but I can safely say, I needed to go through the hard times to become who I am today and I’m extremely grateful for those moments and the people who helped (and walked away) in that time to help me see who I needed in my life.
- What do you do for a living?
I work in shipping, I deal with importing cargo from outside the EU into England. I work for a major leader in our industry in the UK and I’m so proud to be a part of that team. We can only get stronger and I’m excited for the challenges to come.
So I hope you learnt something a little new about me and if you didn’t – well you already know me too well and we’re probably best friends. Or family. Or both.
Here are my 11 questions and big thanks to @RainyBlog again for the nomination and chance to do this. Nominees will be on Twitter
