There was a silence that seemed to drag on forever…….then the lady said ‘a rabbit, it’s a teddy don’t worry! Are you ok to take it home until Wednesday?’ What the hell? I thought I had a good few years until I had to bring home the weekend bear? The thing is, you can’t say no can you? So here I am, at home with a bloody rabbit teddy, his hutch, a plastic carrot, a toothbrush(!), some hay for his bed (actual hay, FML) and a finger puppet. I think I promised him that I would be more lady like and less sweary on this blog but for actual fuck’s sake.
Before I go on, I don’t mind the weekend bear (or weekday bear) but I work full time, the explorer goes to my mum’s for 2 days in the week so when the hell am I going to find time to get some adventures in with the rabbit? So far, I think I’ve done alright. We’ve taken some photos of the car ride home, of us brushing teeth, having the carrot and getting into the hay lined hutch and the explorer kissing the little bunny night-night. Grandma is going to have to do something tomorrow as I have to provide at least 5 photos!
I completely understand why nurseries do this earlier, it’s to get the parents used to it before big school so they can start planning the weekend trips so the weekend bear has an amazing time. One person I know took the bear car shopping with them so it’s fun times for bears on a Saturday.
I’m sure I’ll think of something to get the bunny doing something interesting, but I’m not sure that nursery will be impressed with the bunny in compromising positions with the other teddies in the house. I’m not sure the explorer will be too impressed either. After being completely disinterested for most of the journey home; he declared that the bunny was his and staying forever. Sorry kiddo, it’s going back home on Wednesday!
Wish us luck, I’ll try and get some funny photos and upload them (no faces as I don’t want the nursery to get angry) and see if we’re ever allowed the little bunny again.
