I wasn’t meant to be doing the Team Deane 10k, as we were off to Butlins but I got a pass for it as it’s part of the club champs and I needed it!
Team Deane is another local race – this time in Bolton. Raising money in memory of the wife of the Chairman of the Tri club. It’s a lovely little team and they made us feel welcome – with it being another local, club race it was packed out with rams!
***This is one of the last races of the year that I actually felt comfortable running! After this, my times, fitness and pace took a nosedive.***
The route is a lovely mix of trail, country paths and a teensy bit of road. The first couple of miles, I felt quite strong and knew I could get round in a decent time if I pushed myself a little. Halfway down the canal towpath however, I just gave up. I’m so glad that I had the lovely RRC team behind me and Emma P was literally by my side the rest of the way.
Unfortunately, we came across quite a serious injury but again the RRC team and Team Deane were on hand and ready for action. The man involved was ok and in the pub at the end but says it all about the running community that 4 or 5 people stopped and helped.
The race was truly one of the best I’ve done in a long time, sometimes the local, club run ones are the best! The goody bag was pretty good too and the medal is a lovely reminder of it. I’d definitely do it again and would recommend it to everyone but it sells out so get it booked quickly!
