When I finished the first book in this series, I was so glad to have the first one already downloaded and ready to go, it’s just common sense when reading a really good series like this. The second book starts with Fia being back on Earth, trying to go about her daily life. However, she wants to be back in Ohinyan with Alexander – the angel she’s in love with – and knows that she is needed there more than in London.
Alex has realised the same, he should go and get Fia but he is in Ohinyan trying to figure out how to keep everyone alive, as leader of the angels. They cross through windows into the other worlds, missing each other by hours. Will they get back together?
“Do you know who you are?”
Angels are disappearing. Witches are gathering. An ancient darkness is rising.
It’s been just over a month since eighteen-year-old Fia Aldridge has returned to Earth from the parallel world of Ohinyan.
She thought she’d be safe back in London—and that she’d be protecting her friends from Erebus, the ancient darkness that was calling to her.
But when she discovers angels are going missing at the hands of a local witch coven, she knows she has to find a way back to Ohinyan and warn her friends, even if it means Erebus will be waiting.
Little does she know, the darkness is about to be set free—and he’s only interested in one thing: finding Fia.
“I know who I want to be.”
Victoria does a fantastic job of moving the story along in this second book. I was a bit wary of each character missing each other by moments and having to deal with them being apart but it worked really well. She even managed to weave in another couple of love stories which I liked! Fia’s best friend, Jo, is more involved in this book and seemingly falls for another angel. I really don’t want to give too much away!
I loved the set up of Erebus becoming a rival to Alexander in more ways than one. After the action at the end of the first book, the Eternal Dusk did a good job of moving everything along and setting us up for book three. Alexander and Fia are trying to get back to one another but as ever, things just get in their way. I admit, I did fear for Alexander as he didn’t seem in a good way at a few points in the story but nothing good ever came from killing vital characters off in book two.
Fia and Erebus are flung together a lot more in this one as he comes to life and he worms his way past her defences. I can definitely see a good love triangle going to happen in the third book! Lorn is still up to her old tricks but her temper still manages to get the better of her. I feel she’s going to play a huge part in book three. The prophesy is coming to fruition but there are a few little mysteries to solve, is Fia the Fire Mother as everyone thinks? Or is it Lorn who has been groomed from birth to be the Fire Mother? Will Alexander and Fia ever find one another again? Will anyone put a bloody shirt on? Hopefully, all those questions and more will be answered in book three!
“You broke your promise”
